Managing Planetlab nodes
Chupáč, Michal ; Balej, Jiří (referee) ; Müller, Jakub (advisor)
Bachelor’s thesis is focused on maintaining and managing PlanetLab nodes from one place. Introductory chapter contains process of network access creation and other important information and guidance. Following part involves remote access thru command prompt by program CoDeploy. This program is used for parallel command execution and file upload to multiple nodes. The thesis contains installation and configuration manual for applications CoDeploy, Plush and Nebula, description of their functions and practical usage in PlanetLab network environment. Section about graphic user interface Nebula deals with module for XML application development. Part with PlMan software alternative for Windows is also completely made out. Ending of the thesis is focused on CoMon monitoring system, its functions, elements and practical application in network.
Virtual Access to Nodes in PlanetLab
Fic, Jiří ; Matoušek, Petr (referee) ; Ryšavý, Ondřej (advisor)
PlanetLab as a distributed systems testbed offers a unique opportunity for developing and testing new applications useful for future Internet. This work brings up a scheme and a solution of the problem with accessing PlanetLab by a larger group of students e.g. for the purpose of solving their courseworks. A designed system empowers its administrator to create and control virtual user accounts which provide possibility for all its users to connect to selected nodes in the PlanetLab.
Analysis of web server hosting
Ilgner, Petr ; Kubánková, Anna (referee) ; Komosný, Dan (advisor)
Master thesis deals with the problematics of webpages hosting in the Czech Republic. The goal of the thesis is to design a procedure and to implement an application for automated determination of whether a particular website is operated on a third party server or an own server of the organization or the individual. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part of the thesis lays a theoretical base concerning principals, protocols and services which are necessary for providing availability of the webpages with special attention to the specifics of the Czech internet environment. In the practical part there are several approaches to the analysis of the obtained data proposed. On that basis there is designed and in the form of the detection application implemented an algorithm which goal is to determine whether the submitted webpages are placed on a shared server and to collect the information about their hosting. In the last part of the thesis the application runs based on the created database of webservers organized by the categories of the webserver operators. In this analytic part the obtained output information about these webservers hosting are processed and presented together with the relevant context concerning the hosting of these webpages in the Czech Republic.

Using a virtual station for network testing
Jáchym, Jakub ; Pavlíček, Luboš (advisor) ; Žid, Norbert (referee)
This work deals with using a virtual station for network testing. The work is segmented into two parts -- a theory and a case study. The theory covers two topics. Virtualization methods and types are described first; short descriptions of physical and virtual local networks follow. The virtualization part concludes with a description and a short comparison of server virtualization products by three successful companies on a virtualization market. The second part addresses the network testing. Network attributes appropriate for testing are described therein. The case study describes an installation of a selected server-virtualization product. Then several virtual stations are run on the server. One virtual station is used for testing of a local area network which it is connected to; the other stations generate traffic in the network.
Virtualization in IS/ICT
Naiman, Michal ; Gála, Libor (advisor) ; Kašpar, Jaromír (referee)
The goal of the thesis is to examine and assess actual portfolio of products on the market for server visualization and to compare performance of individual products with performance of the physical machine. The research and the assessment of the actual portfolio will be carried out with the focus on current trends in the area of server virtualization, reasons for realization, and important aspects for their successful implementation. The comparison will be carried out in areas of supported platforms, hardware emulation spectra, hardware limitations, licensing and prices. Further it will be performed comparison in the form of benchmark performance in areas of CPU, RAM, hard-drive throughput, and network throughput of most commonly used products for server virtualization.
